Coopers Oxford Pork are based at North Farm, Shillingford, Oxfordshire, OX10 8LZ and is the home of the Suntrap Herd of Pedigree Oxford Sandy and Black Pigs.
The Oxford Sandy and Black pig originated in Oxfordshire and has existed for 200-300 years as one of the oldest British pig breeds. Mark and Jane Cooper are breeders of these pigs found at North Farm which is owned by the Earth Trust.
Their pigs are free range and traditionally raised in woodlands which is their natural environment. They are slow growing therefore they take longer to mature but it means they produce bacon of high quality and full flavour.
Mark Cooper has a farming background as he used to keep Heretford cattle but in 2008 he decided to try keeping rare breed pigs with Jane. They started out with 5 and now they have 150! They are both committed to conserving this rare breed pig and ensuring its quality of life. Their two young daughters Rebecca and Chloe also help out at the family business by updating their blog.
