A family run independent wholesale & retail craft bakers that make a huge range of breads and cakes. First established by Derek Coleman, the bakery is now run since 1985 by his son Geoff and is now one of Oxfordshire’s leading bread and cake suppliers.
They emphasise on traditional craft made breads including a range of sourdoughs; speciality flavoured and seeded breads, alongside more regular tin breads. They currently have a shop run in Wheatley by Geoff’s wife and a second bakery in Thame run by his sister-in-law, where you can have a sit down with a nice cup of coffee.
They also specialise in celebration cakes for weddings, birthdays and graduations and they even run bread making courses for beginner bakers!

Bread - £1
Sandford Sourdough offer tasty bread with no preservatives, emulsifiers or antibacterial agents. This reduces the chances of food related allergies and provides nutritious dough that is an investment in your health.
The bread is simply delicious, it keeps well and it makes great sandwiches, toasts and croutons for soups. And it’s all baked by Sandford resident and bread maker extraordinaire, Robert Rodrigues.
Sourdough bread inherits its name from the ‘type’ of fermentation it undergoes. The process takes place in stages using a starter culture that is developed over a period of 72 hours into dough, gradually maturing at each stage. The master baker selectively breeds the yeast that will produce an ‘Earthy’ flavour and ‘wheaty bite’ to the loaf. The yeast breaks down the ingredients, making it easier to digest.
