Each month on the third Wednesday our volunteers cook up a feast from Oxford Food Bank food that otherwise would have gone to waste.
We are open from 1pm to 2.30pm for you to come along and enjoy great food, freshly made that morning by our volunteers.
All available on a pay as you feel basis!
Volunteer with Our Food Surplus Team
What an opportunity to learn to cook from whatever's around! Great for building confidence and skills in the kitchen. A lovely way to meet new people. And you'll be helping to make a really valuable community event happen each month.
This team brings together volunteers of different ages, from different places, with different cooking experiences - from little to loads, from many food cultures.
There are many many ways to get involved. Each month the team shares out a variety of jobs:
collecting food from the Food Bank
planning the dishes
cooking up the dishes
helping to clear away
It's a very sociable event and everyone gets to enjoy a great meal too! Our original team were trained by the Oxford Food Surplus Cafe team and they support new volunteers who join up.
Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene training coming up on 24th November. To find out more about joining the team, accessing that training or other questions please use our contact form here.
