JAX Designs

Make.Do.Mend

Jackie Richards produces greetings cards featuring images of original multimedia artwork,  such as paper collage, textured art and alcohol inks, A keen photographer, many of the cards feature photographs of local places of interest such as Sandford on Thames, Iffley and Wolvercote while others focus on wildlife, parks, trees and flowers.

Discovering mosaicking in 2006 during treatment and recovery from cancer, Jackie is putting those skills to good use in making bright and vibrant eggshell mosaic pendants and earrings. Needless to say, the eggshells all come from the Farmers Market!

You can find JAX Designs at the Sandford Farmer's Market the last Saturday of each month.

Make-Do-Mend is a sewing service: alterations, mending and commission textile design work. Simple tasks can be completed while you wait or collection at the next month’s market, alternatively you can arrange to collect from their home studio in West Oxford.

As always, Maria will be at the market on her second-Saturday-of-the-month routine with her sewing machine, able to mend your clothes or even complete a commission from scratch: a fresh pair of curtains, shorten some new summer slacks, or maybe repair a winter coat before it goes into storage.

Natalie Ellett Designs

Picture
Natalie grew up surrounded by people who made things. Her mother sewed clothes and toys and made magic in the garden, and her father was a DIY expert. Natalie’s maternal grandmother crocheted and painted, as did her aunt, and her paternal grandmother knitted and had a knitting shop. It is no wonder that Natalie went on to study art, specialising in printed furnishing fabric design - quite fitting as some of her first words were ‘nice curtains!’

Natalie has worked in the furnishing trade for 10 years designing and colouring in house collections and unique designs for major high street names. Inspiration from these years is evident in her work as images are created using printing techniques (screen, lino and block), which are then layered together to create individual and original pieces. You can come see some of her wonderful designs at her stall this Saturday.
